Horombo Hut sits in the moorland zone and is a key acclimatization stop on Marangu itineraries. Many climbs spend extra time here because the altitude is meaningful and the body benefits from a slower rhythm before moving higher.
The hut is basic, shared, and exposed to cooler mountain conditions. It gives wide views toward Mawenzi and Kibo when weather is clear, and it is a strategic rest point before Kibo Hut or descent.
